Spanish authorities, including the Guardia Civil, confirmed the incident. A statement released by the Zamora Provincial Council stated:
“Two young people died in an accident on the A-52 (Palacios de Sanabria). The Rionegro del Puente Fire Station (Northern Zone of the Consortium) responded. The vehicle caught fire, and the flames spread to nearby vegetation. They were 28 and 26 years old. RIP.”
Jota’s Football Legacy: From Paços de Ferreira to Liverpool Glory
Born in Portugal, Diogo Jota began his football journey at Paços de Ferreira before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2016. Although he did not make a senior appearance for the La Liga giants, Jota’s talent was evident during loan spells at FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves).
In 2018, Wolves made his move permanent, and Jota flourished under Portuguese manager Nuno Espírito Santo. His stellar performances earned him a transfer to Liverpool FC in September 2020.
